Morelos has 36 municipalities and about 1,987,247 people (2025) on 4,888 km² (1,887 sq mi). Cuernavaca is both the capital and the largest city, with 341,029 people (2020). It borders Guerrero, Mexico City, Puebla and State of Mexico.
Cuernavaca is the most populous municipality (379,825 people) and Tlalnepantla the least (7,252); Tlaquiltenango is the largest by area (544 km²) and Hueyapan the smallest (19 km²).
