About Coahuila
Coahuila has 38 municipalities and about 3,404,559 people (2025) on 151,595 km² (58,531 sq mi). Saltillo is both the capital and the largest city, with 864,431 people (2020). It borders Chihuahua, Durango, Nuevo León, Zacatecas and United States.
Saltillo is the most populous municipality (976,477 people) and Abasolo the least (985); Ocampo is the largest by area (26,024 km²) and Allende the smallest (252 km²).

The state's total on the Mexico map, 3,415,128, also counts the 10,569 people INEGI estimates in collective dwellings and without a dwelling, which it publishes only for the whole state. Towns are INEGI's localities with their 2020 Census population: every municipal seat and every other locality of 5,000 people or more.
