About Victoria

Victoria has 80 local government areas and about 7,073,859 people (2025) on 227,496 km² (87,837 sq mi). Melbourne is both the capital and the largest city, with 4,585,537 people (2021). It borders New South Wales and South Australia.

Casey is the most populous local government area (414,929 people) and Unincorporated Vic the least (917); Mildura is the largest by area (22,082 km²) and Queenscliffe the smallest (9 km²).
