About Idaho

Idaho has 44 counties, 198 cities and 36 Census-designated communities, and about 2,029,733 people (2025 estimate) on 214,050 km² (82,645 sq mi) of land. Boise is both the capital and the largest city, with 238,429 people. It borders Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming, and the Canadian province of British Columbia.

Ada County is the most populous county (546,141 people) and Clark County the least (783); Idaho County is the largest by land area (21,957 km²) and Payette County the smallest (1,054 km²).
