About Oregon

Oregon has 36 counties, 231 cities, 9 towns and 185 Census-designated communities, and about 4,273,586 people (2025 estimate) on 248,630 km² (95,997 sq mi) of land. The capital is Salem; the largest city is Portland, with 635,109 people. It borders California, Idaho, Nevada and Washington.

Multnomah County is the most populous county (795,391 people) and Wheeler County the least (1,472); Harney County is the largest by land area (26,248 km²) and Multnomah County the smallest (1,116 km²).
