About Mississippi
Mississippi has 82 counties, 113 cities, 167 towns, 19 villages and 127 Census-designated communities, and about 2,954,160 people (2025 estimate) on 121,534 km² (46,925 sq mi) of land. Jackson is both the capital and the largest city, with 141,196 people. It borders Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana and Tennessee.
Harrison County is the most populous county (217,136 people) and Issaquena County the least (1,263); Yazoo County is the largest by land area (2,389 km²) and Alcorn County the smallest (1,036 km²).
