About Kansas
Kansas has 105 counties, 624 cities and 114 Census-designated communities, and about 2,977,220 people (2025 estimate) on 211,754 km² (81,759 sq mi) of land. The capital is Topeka; the largest city is Wichita, with 400,987 people. It borders Colorado, Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma.
Johnson County is the most populous county (636,906 people) and Greeley County the least (1,182); Butler County is the largest by land area (3,703 km²) and Wyandotte County the smallest (393 km²).
