The 47 are the countries our Asia quizzes use, with Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Taiwan in Asia. Russia and Turkey span Europe and Asia, Egypt spans Africa and Asia, and Cyprus is an Asian island in the European Union: they are coloured on the map and listed after the 47, but our quizzes count them in Europe and Africa, so the figures above leave them out.
