Tyrol has 9 districts and about 779,060 people (2026) on 12,649 km² (4,884 sq mi). Innsbruck is both the capital and the largest city, with 132,820 people. It borders Carinthia, Salzburg, Vorarlberg, Germany, Italy and Switzerland.

Innsbruck-Land is the most populous district (187,119 people) and Reutte the least (33,998); Lienz is the largest by area (2,020 km²) and Innsbruck the smallest (105 km²).
