Occitanie has 13 departments and about 6,124,653 people (2023) on 72,727 km² (28,080 sq mi). Toulouse is both the capital and the largest city, with 514,819 people. It borders Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, Andorra and Spain.

Haute-Garonne is the most populous department (1,471,468 people) and Lozère the least (76,486); Aveyron is the largest by area (8,736 km²) and Tarn-et-Garonne the smallest (3,718 km²).
