The capital is Trenton; the largest city is Newark, with 323,808 people. It borders Delaware, New York and Pennsylvania.

Bergen County is the most populous county (977,026 people) and Salem County the least (66,280); Burlington County is the largest by land area (2,070 km²) and Hudson County the smallest (120 km²).
