About Germany

Germany has 16 states and about 83,467,117 people (2025) on 357,684 km² (138,103 sq mi). Berlin is both the capital and the largest city, with 3,700,577 people. It borders Denmark, Poland, Czechia, Austria, Switzerland, France, Luxembourg, Belgium and Netherlands.

North Rhine-Westphalia is the most populous state (17,986,214 people) and Bremen the least (706,915); Bavaria is the largest by area (70,541 km²) and Bremen the smallest (420 km²).
