About Arizona

Arizona has 15 counties, 46 cities, 45 towns and 374 Census-designated communities, and about 7,623,818 people (2025 estimate) on 294,366 km² (113,655 sq mi) of land. Phoenix is both the capital and the largest city, with 1,665,481 people. It borders California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico and Utah, and the Mexican states of Sonora and Baja California.

Maricopa County is the most populous county (4,689,558 people) and Greenlee County the least (9,312); Coconino County is the largest by land area (48,216 km²) and Santa Cruz County the smallest (3,202 km²).
