About Northern Ireland
Northern Ireland has 11 districts and about 1,928,446 people (2025) on 13,547 km² (5,231 sq mi). Belfast is both the capital and the largest city, with 293,298 people (2021). It borders Ireland.
Belfast is the most populous district (351,927 people) and Fermanagh and Omagh the least (117,663); Fermanagh and Omagh is the largest by area (2,836 km²) and Belfast the smallest (133 km²).
