Populations are INE's official figures from the municipal register (Padrón) on 1 January 2025; towns are municipalities, so a city's figure is its whole municipality. The Canary Islands (Las Palmas and Santa Cruz de Tenerife) are drawn as an inset south-west of Portugal: they really lie off the coast of Morocco, about 1,000 km south-west of the Peninsula.
