Populations are INE's official figures from the municipal register (Padrón) on 1 January 2025; the 88 municipalities add up to the community's 2,249,976, the sum of its provinces on the Spain map. Towns are the municipalities themselves, each at its capital, so a town's figure is its whole municipality. The Canary Islands have two capitals: under the Statute of Autonomy (article 5), the capital is shared by Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the seat of the presidency alternates between them from one legislature to the next, and the Parliament sits in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Both are marked as capitals.
