About Central Asia

Central Asia has 5 countries, home to about 80 million people across 4,004,451 km² (1,546,127 sq mi).

The largest country by area is Kazakhstan, at 2,724,900 km², about 68% of the total; the smallest is Tajikistan, at 144,100 km².

Uzbekistan has the most people, about 37 million (46% of the total), and Turkmenistan the fewest, about 5.7 million. The most densely populated is Uzbekistan, with about 83 people per km².

5 of the 5 countries are landlocked: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
