Ohio hat 88 Countys, 253 Städte, 670 Villages und 338 gemeindefreie Orte (Census-designated Places) sowie 11.900.510 Einwohner (Schätzung 2025) auf 105.824 km² Landfläche. Columbus ist zugleich Hauptstadt und größte Stadt (938.396 Einwohner). Ohio grenzt an Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Pennsylvania und West Virginia sowie an die kanadische Provinz Ontario.
Das Franklin County ist das bevölkerungsreichste (1.361.536 Einwohner), das Vinton County das bevölkerungsärmste (12.645); das Ashtabula County ist das flächengrößte (1.819 km²), das Lake County das kleinste (594 km²).
