What counts as a capital?

One capital entry per country, using our existing quiz pools. Other recognised capitals and government seats are excluded from the decoys. Regional and former capitals do not count. Where relevant: La Paz and Ramallah count as government seats, Yaren counts for Nauru, and Bern counts for Switzerland. Equatorial Guinea uses Ciudad de la Paz following its January 2026 change. South Africa uses Pretoria, Eswatini uses Lobamba, and Sri Lanka uses Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte. This does not mean their other capitals are non-capitals.
