Learn all 81 provinces of Turkey

This Turkish provinces quiz covers Türkiye’s 81 provinces, known as iller in Turkish. These are administrative areas, not the seven broad geographical regions. Each answer is an entire province rather than a city marker, even when a province shares its name with a familiar city.

Start with coastal anchors: İzmir on the Aegean coast, Antalya on the Mediterranean, and Samsun and Trabzon along the Black Sea. Ankara and Konya help you build a mental map of the interior, while Van and Hakkâri anchor the east.

Separate similar names and neighbouring provinces

Kırklareli, Kırıkkale and Kırşehir are three different provinces. Likewise, Erzurum and Erzincan are separate answers. The map keeps Turkish spellings, including dotted İ, dotless ı, ş and ğ, so you can recognise the names used on local maps.

Choose a ten-province round for a short practice session, or all 81 for the full challenge. Zoom in around İstanbul and the Sea of Marmara to distinguish compact provinces such as Yalova and Kocaeli.

How to play

Click the place named above the map. A correct first click earns three points; a second or third attempt earns two or one. After three mistakes, or if you skip, the answer highlights in red. Click it to continue and learn its position.

Use the zoom controls or pinch and drag for smaller areas. At the end, review the map, share your score or play again. Your best result is saved to My Progress.
