Learn all 26 cantons of Switzerland
Switzerland’s cantons are its constituent states. This Swiss cantons quiz includes all 26, from the large Alpine cantons of Graubünden and Valais to compact Basel-Stadt and Zug. Cantons vary greatly in size, so zooming helps with the smaller targets.
Build your bearings with Geneva in the southwest, Ticino south of the Alps and Graubünden in the east. Then work through central Switzerland and the northern cantons around Zürich.
Keep the paired cantons separate
Basel-Stadt and Basel-Landschaft are separate answers, as are Appenzell Innerrhoden and Appenzell Ausserrhoden, and Obwalden and Nidwalden. They count individually in this 26-canton quiz.
Names may be familiar in more than one language: Geneva is Genève, Lucerne is Luzern, Valais is Wallis and Graubünden is also known as Grisons. The map tests cantonal areas rather than cities with the same names.
How to play
Click the place named above the map. A correct first click earns three points; a second or third attempt earns two or one. After three mistakes, or if you skip, the answer highlights in red. Click it to continue and learn its position.
Use the zoom controls or pinch and drag for smaller areas. At the end, review the map, share your score or play again. Your best result is saved to My Progress.
