Learn all thirteen Malaysian state capitals

This quiz covers Malaysia’s thirteen states, including Sabah and Sarawak on Borneo. Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan are federal territories, so they are not separate questions in this state-capitals round.

Build links between the two parts of the country: Sabah pairs with Kota Kinabalu and Sarawak with Kuching. On the peninsula, Penang uses George Town, Perak uses Ipoh and Selangor uses Shah Alam.

Separate capitals from royal towns

A royal seat is not necessarily the state capital. Pahang’s capital is Kuantan rather than Pekan; Perlis uses Kangar rather than Arau. Johor Bahru remains Johor’s capital, distinct from the government complex at Kota Iskandar and the royal town of Muar.

Malacca City is accepted as Melaka or Kota Melaka, while Alor Setar also accepts Alor Star. These questions ask for state capitals, not administrative complexes such as Ayer Keroh. Play ten questions by default or select all thirteen for a full round.
