Learn the capitals of Iran’s thirty-one provinces
This quiz covers Iran’s thirty-one provinces, including Alborz and its capital Karaj. Each question shows the province name, its outline and a marker for the capital. Choose multiple choice to build familiarity or type the answer to test recall.
Some province-capital pairs share a name, such as Kerman, Yazd and Qom. Others need their own association: Fars uses Shiraz, Khuzestan uses Ahvaz, Hormozgan uses Bandar Abbas and Kurdistan uses Sanandaj.
Keep the Khorasan provinces apart
North Khorasan, Razavi Khorasan and South Khorasan are separate questions, with Bojnord, Mashhad and Birjand respectively. Likewise, East Azerbaijan uses Tabriz while West Azerbaijan uses Urmia; the two provinces are not interchangeable.
Common English transliterations are accepted, including Esfahan for Isfahan, Hamedan for Hamadan and Shahr-e Kord for Shahrekord. Begin with ten capitals, or select all thirty-one and work through the complete provincial set at your own pace.
