Learn Greece’s 13 administrative regions

This Greek regions quiz uses the country’s 13 administrative regions, rather than historical regions or individual islands. Attica includes Athens, Crete is a region in its own right, and North Aegean, South Aegean and the Ionian Islands group multiple islands into regional answers.

Across northern Greece, separate Western Macedonia, Central Macedonia, and Eastern Macedonia and Thrace. Epirus lies in the northwest, while Thessaly and Central Greece help anchor the mainland farther south.

Administrative borders do not always follow familiar geography

The administrative region of Peloponnese does not cover the entire Peloponnese peninsula: parts belong to Western Greece. Likewise, the region of Central Greece is a specific administrative area, not simply everything near the country’s centre.

For island groups, clicking any island belonging to the requested region counts as that region. Zoom and pan to reach the smaller islands. Try ten regions first, then all 13 to test the complete set.
