How it works and sources
Every round is new: the wrong labels are picked at random from the map. A wrong label shows the name of a nearby place of the same kind (usually a neighbour), two neighbours swap names, or three neighbours pass their names round. A challenge link replays exactly the same map.
Clicking a label that is right is a strike, and three strikes end the round. Sporcle's version has no strike limit, but then clicking every label in turn would always win.
Labels sit on each place. Where a place is too small for its name (microstates, islands and the smallest states), the label sits nearby with a line to a dot on the place. Zoom in to read the crowded areas.
All 47 countries of our Europe quizzes are labelled, including Russia, Turkey, Cyprus and Kosovo.
Countries follow our other quizzes: the 193 UN member states plus Vatican City, Palestine, Kosovo and Taiwan. Grey land is outside the quiz and has no label.
