Joined the Union data and source
The 13 original states are ordered by the day each one ratified the Constitution, from Delaware (7 December 1787) to Rhode Island (29 May 1790). No two ratified on the same day.
The next seven are ordered by the date each one was admitted to the Union, from Vermont (4 March 1791) to Mississippi (10 December 1817). Ohio's date, 1 March 1803, is the one Congress confirmed in 1953; the date is sometimes given as 19 February 1803, which does not change its place. Illinois, the 21st state, followed on 3 December 1818.
Dates are the ratification and admission dates given by the National Archives and in Wikipedia’s list of states by date of admission (which cites the acts of admission), checked 24 September 2026.
