From the Andes to the Galápagos
Match each of Ecuador’s twenty-four provinces with its capital. The round includes coastal, Andean and Amazonian provinces as well as the Galápagos Islands. Start with ten questions, or choose all twenty-four to test the complete set.
Quito is both Ecuador’s national capital and the capital of Pichincha. Elsewhere, province names do not always provide a clue: Azuay uses Cuenca, Chimborazo uses Riobamba and Tungurahua uses Ambato.
Learn the capital, not just the largest city
Look beyond the best-known destination. Manabí’s capital is Portoviejo rather than Manta; Los Ríos uses Babahoyo rather than Quevedo. In the Galápagos, the provincial capital is Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, not Puerto Ayora.
The Amazonian capitals offer useful name variations to learn. Puerto Francisco de Orellana is also known as El Coca, and Nueva Loja as Lago Agrio; either name is accepted. Accents are optional, and missed answers can be revisited in practice.
