Brazil’s state capitals, from Rio Branco to Palmas

This quiz contains 27 answers: the capitals of Brazil’s 26 states and Brasília, the national capital in the Federal District. The Federal District is not a state, but it is included so the round covers all 27 federative units.

Some states share their name with their capital, including São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. Others require a different pairing: Minas Gerais with Belo Horizonte, Amazonas with Manaus, and Bahia with Salvador. Each state outline and city marker gives you a visual clue.

Build up to all 27 capitals

Start with 10 questions, then choose 25 or all 27 for your next round. Multiple choice helps build familiarity; typed answers test recall. Accents are optional, so Sao Luis, Belem and Brasilia are accepted for São Luís, Belém and Brasília.

Group your learning geographically: northern capitals around the Amazon, northeastern capitals along the Atlantic, and southern capitals such as Curitiba, Florianópolis and Porto Alegre. Your missed answers can be revisited in practice after the round.
