How it works and sources
Each quiz has six snippets. A round shows one of them at random; play again for the next. A challenge link gives your friend the same snippet.
A country counts when a clearly visible piece of its land is inside the snippet, or at least half of the country is (small islands). Slivers along the edge do not count, and typing a country that is not in the snippet costs nothing.
Overseas regions count for their country: French Guiana, Guadeloupe and Martinique are part of France. Territories that are not part of a quiz country, such as Western Sahara or Puerto Rico, are shown in grey from the start.
The small map in the corner shows where the snippet is. Sporcle's version has no locator; ours shows the land of the continent without borders, so it gives you your bearings but no answers.
Country shapes come from Natural Earth (public domain). Borders shown do not imply any position on disputed territory.
