Area data and source
Uses total area (land plus water) in square kilometres from the archived CIA World Factbook, checked 14 September 2026, the same figures as our other country area quizzes. The CIA retired the Factbook in February 2026: this is a fixed historical dataset preserved in the CC0-licensed factbook.json archive, not a live 2026 survey.
Continents follow this site's continent quizzes: roughly the UN M49 regions, with Kosovo in Europe and Taiwan in Asia. Only independent countries are ranked, not dependent territories, and each country counts once, in one continent, with its whole area and population.
